Your Reunion Committee has planned a memorable weekend in Moraga as we celebrate 50 years, renew friendships, and relive memories. Here's the latest information on our Reunion Weekend:
This is a great day to arrive in Moraga, get unpacked, and decompress into those days of yesteryear. We've arranged for some exclusive townhouse accommodations on campus that will simplify your life and maximize your reunion experience. We also have arranged a discounted group rate for lodging at the Lafayette Park Hotel for those who prefer off-campus accommodations. Click here for lodging information.
Visit the Class of '61 Hospitality Suite, play a round of golf* with classmates (click here for golf information), stroll around the campus, take a nap, stop by the hospitality suite again, and then get ready for Friday evening's Class of '61 Barbecue. This casual event at George Walker's home in nearby Alamo promises food, fun, and lots of conversation as we recount past memories and catch up on the past fifty years. The social hour begins at 5pm. Click here for barbecue details. Advance reservations are required. Sign up now! You sign up and pay for this event at a special College website.
* This is not the "Reunion Golf Tournament" at Boundary Oak Golf Course, Walnut Creek, so don't sign up for golf on the College's RSVP form! To sign up for our Golf Event, click here.
This is the busy day and you might decide to sleep in. But early risers can relive their college days with breakfast (8-10am) in Oliver Hall. You’ll be amazed at the improvements (yes, even the food has been improved!) but comforted by the familiar ambiance and the memories of many years ago. If you miss breakfast, be sure to stop by the hospitality suite for some coffee or tea.
At 10am you can take an historical tour of the campus with Brother Raphael Patton '63. The tour ends at the new memoribilia display in the visitor center.
School open houses will be offered from 11am to noon. Visit the classrooms and other facilities and see what fifty years have wrought. You’ll be amazed.
The Classes of 1936, 1941, 1946, 1951, 1956, 1966, 1971, 1976, 1981, 1986, 1991, 1996, 2001, and 2006 will be on campus today celebrating their reunions as well. You are welcome to join them from noon to 2pm at a big family picnic on the magnificently restored De La Salle Quad. Your $12 fee covers a barbecue lunch with wine and beer.
Join Bob Hagler '50, our freshman basketball coach, for a bull session at 2pm in Haggerty Lounge. You'll remember this venue as De La Salle Lounge, the site of lectures, concerts, mixers, and more. It's been updated, beautifully restored, and renamed in honor of Doctor Haggerty.
Another option at 2pm is a Lifelong Learning Class, "The Philosophy of Wine," taught by instructor Chad Arnold. Be prepared to test out a variety of vintages during this "taster" session.
Remember the Grove? There’ll be live music, activities, and beer in Redwood Grove from 2-4 p.m. If you’re not up to the hike you can visit the Legacy Garden behind South Claeys Hall and then stop by the Class of ’61 hospitality suite!
Shopping for a sweatshirt, ball cap, or license plate frame? The College Bookstore in Ferroggiaro Quad will be open from 3-7:30pm.
Now's the time to get out of those shorts and tee shirts and into some fancy duds for our big evening. We're recommending coat and tie for the guys and, for the women, dressy/sport.
Our special evening begins with Mass in the College Chapel at 5pm. A special liturgy will recognize our 50 years and those classmates who are no longer with us. Mass will be celebrated by our own Father Leo LaBelle! We are hoping he'll be assisted on the altar by Deacon Bob Ekhaml and other classmates we haven't tracked down yet.
Immediately after mass we'll pose on the chapel steps for our official class picture. When the photographer is finished it's just a few steps to Dryden Hall and our Golden Anniversary Cocktail Party. Join your classmates and their spouses in Dryden Hall and its adjacent courtyard, Hofmann Patio, for conviviality and perhaps some contemplation. Chat with Brother President Ronald Gallagher before he joins us for dinner.
At 7:30pm we'll all be inside Dryden Hall for the banquet. You'll find it hard to believe that this beautiful setting was the library of our college days. Now, after another classic restoration, it's our private dining room. Here you'll have the meal you’ve waited fifty years for and you’ll be delighted. Fine food and wine in a beautiful setting are only part of this special evening. You’ll enjoy a unique program including remarks by Brother Ron as he brings us up to speed on the Saint Mary’s College of today. After-dinner refreshments will be available.
Sign up now! Advance reservations are required. Sign up on the Reunion Weekend RSVP form for all on-campus events.
Oliver Hall will be open for breakfast an hour longer this morning (8-11 a.m.) and everyone is invited. Whether you're staying on campus or off, come for a complimentary breakfast hosted by the College.
We update this page from time to time; please revisit this page for later information!
It's now time to sign up on the College's RSVP forms. But if you haven't already responded to our brief survey, please do so now. Your answers are for planning only and do not obligate you in any way.
Want to know who's coming? As these responses arrive we post them on our "Who's Coming?" page. We'll try to add your name within a few days of your clicking the "Submit" button.
