Hank Gambina passed away on June 30, 2010 surrounded by his children and close friends. He is survived by his children: Dino Gambina, Lea Pecora, and Julie Thomas.
Hank was a kind man, with a wonderful sense of humor. He was deeply spiritual, and overcame all odds with the support of his late wife, Brenda. After a diving accident 41 years ago, that resulted in quadriplegia, he obtained his Masters Degree, and worked as a counselor for 10 yrs, then a Clinical Social Worker at the VA SCI Unit, full time, for 28 yrs. He loved his job. He helped so many SCI patients, as well as so many others in his life who were inspired by his gentle and fun spirit. He will be missed so very much, but he will never be forgotten.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, July 8, 2010 at St. Edward Church in Newark. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the St. Vincent DePaul Society at St. Edward's Church, 5788 Thornton Ave. Newark, CA or the Catholic Charities www.cceb.org.
