Some of our classmates were young Christian Brothers who, like us lay folks, were at Saint Mary's getting a college education. “Classmates” was a very appropriate term for them because we only saw them in class. We didn’t really know if they were part of the group that arrived in the fall of 1957 with plans of graduating in 1961. It turned out that eleven of these Christian Brothers received their degrees on June 10, 1961 and confirmed their membership in the Class of 1961.
Although we didn’t really know them, we had them on our class rolls, mostly on the “missing classmates” list. Thanks to efforts by Ted Tsukahara ’62 and Brother Thomas Jones we have updated the status of some of these brothers. We have moved the following to our “deceased classmates” list:
